Makeup masterclass

A course teaches sequence: skin, then base, then colour, then style. A masterclass takes one element out of that sequence and works it hard for a day.

So a masterclass works best when you already have the foundation. Without one, a single subject is left without the context that makes it usable.

A masterclass subject is deliberately narrow. That narrowness is what makes a single day produce a result.

• Smokey eye — the three-tone gradient and fitting it to eye shape
• Winged liner — angle, order of strokes, and hooded lids
• Bridal base — endurance and preparing for photographs
• Brows — the three points and filling technique
• Makeup for camera — flash, video and the test frame

The day divides into three: a demonstration with explanation, then practice, then individual corrections with each person.

The practice section is the longest. A masterclass where you only watch is a video, not a masterclass — the difference is that you do it with your hands and are corrected immediately.

It works best in three cases: a working artist with a specific gap, a course graduate who wants to revisit one subject, and someone testing the format before committing to a full course.

It does not suit someone whose goal is the profession. One day does not teach a profession, and we say so directly rather than selling the day.

Groups are small, because the value of the day is the individual correction. In a large group that correction physically cannot happen.
